When is Mid-Autumn Festival 2026?
Mid-Autumn Festival 2026 falls on Friday, 25 September, the 15th day of the eighth lunar month. It is not a public holiday in the Philippines, so the festival lands in an ordinary working week — worth knowing when you decide who is getting a box and when.
Worth noting too that Korea’s Chuseok (추석) falls on the same day as Mid-Autumn in Chinese-speaking markets, 25 September in 2026, so the Korean gifting season runs in parallel.
Keep an eye on early-bird pricing: several of Taiwan’s better-known bakeries have already opened Mid-Autumn pre-orders, with Bluebird Travel’s <Zhi Xing Shou Yue> going to 16% off. These windows close as the festival gets nearer.
I. Taiwan Mid-Autumn Gift Boxes
Xiao Pan Bakery (小潘蛋糕坊) – Fenghuang Su Gift Box (12 pcs x 2)
Xiao Pan Bakery in Banqiao, New Taipei is one of the names Taiwanese people bring home as a gift. Its Fenghuang Su takes the classic pineapple cake and adds a salted egg yolk, which gives it the sweet-savoury edge the plain version does not have.
The bakery has no online store of its own — stock reaches large marketplaces such as MOMO through authorised resellers. Note that this format does not include a carrier bag (Taiwan’s plastic-reduction policy), so bring your own wrapping if it is going out as a gift.

SunnyHills (微熱山丘) – Mid-Autumn Limited Packaging
SunnyHills is the pineapple cake that does not taste like the others: the filling uses native Taiwanese pineapple, so it is tart and fibrous rather than sweet and smooth.
For Mid-Autumn the whole range moves into limited-edition packaging, and the choice is wide: pineapple cake 10-pc NT$550, 15-pc NT$825, pineapple & apple cake box NT$630, apple cake 10-pc NT$650, Banana Cake 12-pc NT$520. With more budget there is the Classic Gift Box at NT$855 or the Mid-Autumn Premium Gift Box at NT$1,320.

hiwalk (海邊走走) – 2026 Prism Moon Mid-Autumn Gift Box
Taiwan’s best-known filled egg roll brand. The shell is thicker and the filling heavier than the hollow egg rolls most people know, so it eats far more substantially. The signature flavours are peanut, dark chocolate and pistachio, and the brand now exports to eight countries.
This year’s Mid-Autumn release is the 2026 Prism Moon gift box, which leans on the packaging design.

⚠️ The signature range includes peanut, pistachio and dark chocolate fillings. Nuts, edible seeds and chocolate are all restricted for the Philippines — this one needs checking flavour by flavour before you order.
Bluebird Travel (青鳥旅行) – Mid-Autumn Limited <Zhi Xing Shou Yue> Gift Box
Another filled egg roll brand, this one aimed squarely at the gifting end. It is fronted by actress Cheryl Yang and has taken a 2025 Golden Word-of-Mouth Award for souvenir gifts and a place in Taiwan’s Baking Awards TOP 30. This year’s Mid-Autumn theme, <Zhi Xing Shou Yue>, builds the box around a night-sky motif — it photographs better than anything else on this list.
The official site runs three price tiers — NT$480, NT$660 and NT$980 onwards — so you can match the box to the recipient. Early-bird pricing currently goes to 16% off, with a gift-with-purchase threshold on top.

II. Japan Mid-Autumn Gift Boxes
Manchinro (萬珍樓) – Kaho Mooncakes (4 flavours, 8 pcs)
The only proper mooncake on this list. Manchinro, founded in 1892, is one of the landmark restaurants of Yokohama Chinatown and a standard gift among Japanese buyers.
The Kaho box holds four classic fillings, two of each: delicate lotus seed paste, rich red bean, soft white bean and naturally sweet pumpkin. Small, thin-skinned, generously filled, and every piece individually wrapped. Total weight 320g (40g x 8), stored at room temperature — which is exactly what you want for forwarding.

Afternoon Tea TEAROOM’s own teas and baked sweets — 12 varieties, 18 pieces, with Earl Grey and Assam tea bags included. The bakes use domestic wheat and chilled butter, and run from moist to crisp. It suits an older relative or a friend, and the moment the lid comes off it reads as more generous than a single-biscuit tin.

Kamakura Goro Honten’s Kamakura Hangetsu — a half-moon shaped wafer sandwich — has been a fixture for years. This Doraemon collaboration launched on 1 July 2026 in a caramel flavour, with Doraemon printed on the wrappers.
“Hangetsu” means half moon, which lands the theme on its own, and it is the most affordable box here — good for children, or as an add-on to a larger gift.

Before you ship food to the Philippines: restrictions and rates
1. Which foods can’t be shipped?
The Philippine restricted-items list is the strictest in the region — 68 entries, more than double Japan’s and twice Singapore’s — and three of them decide most Mid-Autumn gift boxes.
⚠️ The three that catch gift boxes.
・Nuts — “including edible seeds”. That rules out almond biscuits, peanut and pistachio fillings, and sesame-topped traditional sweets.
・Honey — “all types”. This is why Korean yakgwa is not in this article: the dough is steeped in honey syrup, and it is the defining ingredient rather than a trace one.
・Chocolate, named inside the perishable-goods restriction alongside dairy, eggs and fresh produce.
The perishable-goods entry itself reads “perishable or refrigerated goods that require specific environmental conditions for storage, such as dairy products, eggs, chocolate, fresh fruits and vegetables, homemade food, raw meat or animal flesh, and uncooked seafood”. So anything chilled, fresh, homemade, or meat-based is out — which also takes Taiwan’s pork-floss pastry boxes off the table.
What clears comfortably is the plain end of the category: room temperature, individually wrapped, printed best-before date, no nuts, no honey, no chocolate. Manchinro’s Kaho mooncakes are the cleanest example on this list — lotus seed, red bean, white bean and pumpkin fillings, room-temperature storage, 60-day life, and not a nut in the box.
Two warehouse-specific rules also apply: the Taiwan warehouse cannot ship liquids or sauces, or batteries and power banks; the Japan warehouse restricts Class 1 medicines, letters and Nintendo consoles. Neither affects a baked gift box.

Mid-Autumn usually means sending more than one box, and forwarding charges a first pound and then by the pound — so sending several together brings the per-box cost down noticeably. Parcels from Taiwan and Japan can be consolidated into a single shipment at the sorting centre for free once they arrive. A consolidated shipment cannot exceed 20 lb in total, no side may exceed 100cm, and the three sides together must stay under 150cm. Part pounds round up.

Why is there no Korean section in this article?
Because the one Korean Mid-Autumn category that ships well does not clear the Philippine list. Korea’s mainstream Chuseok gifts — fruit, hanwoo beef, seafood, alcohol — are all restricted everywhere. The room-temperature alternative is yakgwa (약과), and yakgwa is dough steeped in honey syrup. The Philippines restricts honey of all types, so it is the defining ingredient rather than a trace one, and we would rather leave it out than have your parcel stopped.

For something Taiwanese that everyone likes, SunnyHills’ pineapple cakes are the safe pick. For an office to share, Yoku Moku’s 44-piece tin is the right size, though you should check the assortment first. And Kamakura Goro’s Doraemon Hangetsu is the one to send to children — the name means “half moon”, which lands the occasion by itself.
